OF GOD &  WISDOM

Learn to love an ugly face,

For God may not resemble

His semblance in Calenders !

Do not seek wisdom ,

In Hard-bound covers ;

For Wisdom may be ,

Hidden in cheap Out-fits !

He will meet you

On the path of simplicity !

He  may be the One

Who was walking with you

With bowed head

And never complaining !

Wise one, O Wise one !

With each step

On the path of Knowledge,

You increased the distance

Between Him & You !

It was only the other day,

When He came to You

Seeking Love & Compassion !

You blind-folded with erudition

Bestowed Him,

With Pity & Disdain !

Blind One, O Blind One !

Could you not see ,

His smile go sour !

Discover Him,

Amongst the Lowliest

Amongst those,

Who walk with you

Unassuming, unnoticed, uncared !

This poignant and heart-touching Poem by Mr. Ashok Sharma, was first published in The Hitavada, Nagpur on Oct 11, 1992
