OF FRIENDS
Aren’t we all parasites,
Clinging to each other,
Feeding on one another
For security and survival !
Friends grow as branches,
On eyes of our shaky stems ;
Entwining creepers, sucking and living,
Turning dry and falling into oblivion !
Oh ! for a breath of that life ,
The thirst, the hum, the flowing nectar;
Sharing of the sweat,
Ever-growing food in those dew-drops !
Welcome friends ! Welcome parasites !
To sting , bite and eat together;
To increase in number and spread forever !
This poem by Mr. Ashok Sharma, was first published in The Hitavada, Nagpur on Aug 15, 1994. We are publishing it on this Website,
to reawaken the muse in our friend which has hybernated for pretty long now! This, we hope will encourage others of the ilk to follow suit. All the best !
