Sukhinder Kalra's Page
Mrs. Kalra used varied
methods of painting. As a keen observer, she could depict many of the scenes very vividly through the
medium of paints. And then she was very fortunate to have a close guide, her
mother, Mrs. Joginder Kaur, who was also a keen artist. And then Principal
H.C. Rai* of College of Arts, Shimla, and Prof. Ranbir Dev of College of
Arts, Chandigarh, gave her a lot of encouragement through their comments and
guidance at various stages.

The scene of boats at even
time instills in the beholder tranquility, serenity and quietness - which is
what she christened the above painting : "Tranquility".

Perhaps Mrs. Kalra could
visualize the ferocity of the ocean waves, and the fear of tempests and
tsunamis in the minds of the fisher-women. That's why her above painting
impresses one so much.

The above painting is
obviously "The Flowers". She used the appliqué art in its
creation, as she did in many of her other paintings.

And here is the painting of
the rapids, on way to Manali.
